Velma Ruth Hileman

Velma Ruth Hileman, 86, formerly of San Francisco, CA, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026.  Velma was born in Bean Station, TN, to E.C. and Frances Hileman. After college, Velma started a career with American Airlines where she worked for over 40 years. Velma traveled the world and was constantly on the go seeing and experiencing life like most people don’t have the opportunity to do. During her time with American Airlines, she was a member of the Airlines Ski Team.  Skiing was her favorite sport and pastime. Velma moved back to East TN in 2023 to live with her niece (Lisa) in Whitesburg. 

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, E.C. and Frances Hileman; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Odessa Hileman; and nephew, Keith Hileman.

Velma is survived by three nieces, Lisa (Steve) McBride, Kathy (David) Majors, and Tammy (Tony) Trent; along with several great nieces and great nephews.

A Graveside service will be held 11AM, Monday March 2, 2026, in Hamblen Memory Gardens of Morristown, TN, with Rev. Dale Harris officiating.
